Restylane and Restylane Lyft Spring Lake, Monmouth County NJ

As we age, the support structures of the skin, collagen and elastin, diminish. This leads to a loss of volume in areas such as the cheeks, and it allows deeper static wrinkles to form. To counter these issues, at LoBuono we offer the dermal fillers Restylane and Restylane Lyft.

What is Restylane?

Restylane is an FDA-approved cosmetic dermal filler used to smooth out moderate facial folds and wrinkles. It replaces lost volume and restores the skin’s youthful contour. It is the only dermal filler approved by the FDA for use in lip enhancement.

Made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body whose job is to keep the skin plump and hydrated, Restylane is the first hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has been slightly modified to make it last longer once injected. Restylane is also the only dermal filler approved by the FDA for use in lip enhancement in individuals who are over 21 years old.

What is Restylane Lyft (Formerly Perlane)?

Restylane Lyft is also a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that corrects moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Its consistency is much thicker than Restylane, so it is effective at restoring volume. This thicker consistency requires that Restylane Lyft be used in areas where surrounding fat can help mask its appearance. Restylane Lyft lasts longer than Restylane.

Where are Restylane and Restylane Lyft used?

Restylane is more effective in areas where it can spread out, such as wrinkles surrounding the mouth. Restylane Lyft, due to its thicker consistency, is better at filling deeper folds and restoring volume. Restylane can be used to add fullness and definition to the lips.

How do I prepare for my injections?

Because Restylane and Restylane Lyft are made of hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the body, there is no need for allergy testing before treatment. Patients should avoid taking aspirin and other anti-inflammatory medications prior to their treatment, however, as they can lead to bruising at the injection sites.

What happens during my appointment?

These dermal fillers are injected skin using an ultrafine needle. There is minimal discomfort during injections, but if you prefer, we can apply a numbing topical anesthetic prior to your injections.

What results can I expect?

You will notice a difference immediately. Restylane results can last up to one year, while Perlane can last up to 18 months. At that point, you will need to schedule another session with Dr. LoBuono to maintain your results.
